The base is made one-at-a-time on the potter’s wheel, glazed by hand, and fired to 2300° in a gas kiln (as opposed to electric at a lower temp) in Berkeley, CA. The atmosphere and temperature in the gas kiln vitrifies the clay and provides a wonderful finish.
The hardware (except on the shade) is unfinished, solid cast brass (so it will age over time) and the power cord is cloth-covered. The custom linen shade has a clean rolled edge (instead of a “taped” edge) and is made in Mississippi.
